Shiva is the receiver of all things, and is said to reside in Mt Kailash, in the Himalayas. Siva is shown in meditation, and when the ashes of cremated Hindus fall in the river Ganges, they are said to fall on Lord Siva in Kailash. Hence, Siva is often shown as grey or blue in colour.
