Welcome to Religion Answers. What would you like to know?

You can say it started with the birth of our patriarch Abraham, to whom God promised the land known then as Canaan and as many descendants as the stars; or the first time that Abraham's descendants united around God's chosen sibling (Jacob's sons eventually accepted Joseph; Esau, Jacob's brother, is regarded as the father of most Christian nations, while Ishmael, brother of Isaac, is regarded as the father of the Arab people); or the receiving of the Torah, which defined for the first time the Hebrews' relationship with God, their duties and His devotion to them. All these events happened sometime before 2448 (acc. to the Jewish calender).
