A gospel is something that gives good news. This term comes from the Old English god-spell, which comes from the greek evangelion, which is used in Mark's narrative about the life of Jesus. Mark's narrative begins:
- This is the good news about the life of Jesus
Mark's narrative was the first, and hence, was called the Gospel, (The good news) according to Mark. All other narratives about the life of Jesus were then called Gospels.
