The Diet of Worms was a General Assembly of the Imperial Estates which took place in the small town of Worms on the Rhine River in Germany. It was conducted from 28 January to 25 May 1521, with the Emperor Charles VI presiding. Although many social and religious issues were addressed, it is most famous for the Edict of Worms, which addressed Martin Luther and the effects of the Protestant Reformation.
